2023 Nissan Maxima Redesign, Refresh, Price, and Engine

2023 Nissan Maxima Redesign, Refresh, Price, and Engine. Large sedans are not as popular as they use to be but many carmakers are still offering amazing models. Maxima is one of them. This full-size sedan has been Nissan’s flagship model for years and the current generation has been around for some time. The current, 2019-year model came with nice updates, mostly in terms of aesthetics. We don’t expect that the next year will bring more important novelties.

On the other side, things about the 2023 Nissan Maxima are still unclear. While some reports suggest a complete redesign, others are even speculating about discontinuation. Most likely, we will see neither of these two, but rather the same model without changes.

Pros & Cons

  • Powerful engine, great driving dynamics
  • Stylish cabin
  • Long list of standard features
  • Tight rear seats
  • Requires premium fuel

As we already mentioned, the current model came with some nice updates. The current generation has been around since 2015, so this update was pretty much expected. We saw a nice amount of visual updates, starting from the new face, which now completely follows Nissan’s latest design language. The front fascia has been updated, areas like grille, headlights, bumper, etc. All this clearly indicates that the bigger changes shouldn’t come in the next couple of years.

The 2023 Nissan Maxima should continue in the same way, with a familiar design. The mechanical aspect of the car should also remain untouched. The current model rides on the stretched version of Nissan’s well-known D platform, which ensures pretty decent handling and overall driving characteristics. The Maxima is comfortable, but also quite an interesting car to drive.

Once again, don’t expect any notable change for the 2023 Nissan Maxima. It will continue with the same layout, which is characterized by some pretty stylish design solutions and great overall quality. This cabin looks very upscale, pretty much on par with premium brands in higher trims. On the other side, a big complaint goes to rear seats, which should’ve been more generous in terms of the legroom. Generally, most rivals, such as Toyota Avalon, Kia Cadenza and Chevy Impala, are characterized by more comfortable cabins. Same goes for the cargo area. You can count on about 14.3 cubic feet, which are some of the lowest ratings in the class.

On the other side, we really don’t have any complaint in terms of standard equipment. Things like 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an eight-speaker stereo, satellite radio, two USB ports, and Bluetooth are standard in all models and we can only see more in the 2023 Nissan Maxima. The list of standard and available safety systems is very long. All models come standard with things like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a driver attention monitor. In higher trims, you can also get things like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, high-beam assist and many more.

2023 Nissan Maxima Engine

Under the hood, things are pretty familiar. There is a well-known 3.5-liter V6, which in this case delivers around 300 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque and comes with a CVT gearbox. The driving dynamics are amazing and that is definitely one of Maxima’s strongest points. Fuel economy is pretty good. You can count on 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The problem is in the fact that this engine requires premium fuel, so you won’t save too much many, despite pretty good fuel economy.
