2021 GMC Terrain Design, Price, and Release Date. According to the latest reports, the 2021 GMC Terrain could arrive already early next year and there is a lot of interesting novelties to come. The compact crossover has been redesigned a couple of years ago but GM already prepares an update. It looks like we are about to see a typical mid-cycle refresh, which will bring novelties in various aspects. Of course, the focus will be on aesthetics. The testing model has already been spotted, and it wears a camouflage on both ends of the vehicle.
Besides new styling, we are also about to see changes under the hood, as a new turbo-four is about to be in the offer. Some reports also suggest a possible hi-performance version. On the inside, the new model probably won’t change too much, though new standard features are always welcome. The 2021 GMC Terrain could arrive already in the first half of the next year.
2021 GMC Terrain Exterior Changes
Mid-cycle updates are usually mostly about aesthetics and the 2021 GMC Terrain shouldn’t be an exception. The testing model has been riding for a while and it wears a camouflage on both ends. Naturally, bigger changes are expected at the front. It is still early to talk about details, but we count on a little bit boxier and bolder approach, a face that will look a lot like new GMC pickups. Headlights will definitely get the new shapes, as well as LED lamps. Of course, we count on a new grille, bumpers etc. The rear end will also come with novelties.
New taillights seem like a certain thing, but we can see even more, considering that much more than that has been covered. Another thing that looks interesting is a new, quad exhaust setup. Some reports suggest this might be a hi-performance version of the compact crossover.
This aspect of the crossover won’t change too much. Surprisingly for a GM vehicle, this crossover features pretty high overall interior quality. The whole cabin is made of quality materials, while the dashboard is quite stylish as well. Besides the upscale look, another thing we like about this crossover is a comfort. Seats are pretty good, while the amount of legroom is great in both rows.
On the other side, the cargo area isn’t that spacious. Most rivals are better in this aspect. The Terrain features just 30 cubic feet behind the rear seats, which are quite low ratings for the class. Things aren’t much better with folded seats either, as the volume goes around 63 cubic feet. These are also below-average numbers. A good thing about this crossover is that the passenger seat folds flat, which is great for long items.
New features are a typical thing of mid-cycle updates, so we expect the same from the 2021 GMC Terrain. It is early to talk about details, but we could see some new tech goodies in the offer and similar things. The current model is already pretty decent in this aspect. It comes with an intuitive touchscreen infotainment system, with standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also, there are several more very practical standard features, such as six USB ports, Wi-Fi hotspot, premium audio system etc
. When it comes to safety, we saw a big update recently. The current-year model came with significant improvements in this aspect, so the Terrain can finally compare with Japanese rivals. The list of standard safety features no includes things like a rearview camera, forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, the following distance indicator, front pedestrian braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. You can get even more in higher trims. We don’t count on bigger changes in this aspect.
2021 GMC Terrain Engines
Changes under the hood are about to come as well. The current 2.0-liter turbo-four is about to be replaced with a new version. Interestingly, the new version delivers less power than the current one. On the other side, it is much better in terms of fuel economy. A max output should go around 235 hp. Other than that, things should remain the same. The base 1.5-liter turbo-four will carry on in the same way.
This engine is good for about 170 horsepower, which seems more than enough power for daily driving. Still, most buyers pick this engine because of the very good fuel economy, which goes around 26 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. These are above-average ratings for the class.
2021 GMC Terrain Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2021 GMC Terrain sometime early in the next year. The current model starts at around 25.000 dollars and we probably won’t see bigger changes for the next year. When it comes to the competition, this is arguably the most competitive segment in the automotive industry today. Some of the key players are Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Ford Escape etc
